Thanks for your interest in the Pike County Water & Sewerage Authority. We have a comprehensive program of testing and flushing our water lines in order to insure that we provide the best possible water to our customers.

Although we don't actually provide the sewerage services ourselves at this time, many people wonder what is involved in this process. The treatment for sewage water involves several steps to remove all the contaminants, such as waste products, chemicals, or other contaminants. As water goes through the treatments, it is separated into two different types of waste: sludge and waste stream.

There are three stages of treatment. The first stage involves the removal of solid waste, oil, grease, fat, sand and grit. This stage also includes a sedimentation step. The second stage removes smaller solid waste and detergents or soaps. The final stage involves water disinfection and final filtration steps.
