We now have Free Public Wi-Fi internet access.

The J. Joel Edwards Library is a branch of the Flint River Regional Library System. It is under the umbrella of PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services). Patrons have access to books from over 200 libraries in the PINES system.

MEMBERSHIP

To obtain a PINES card, simply present identification with your current address. There is no charge for membership. Children must be at least 5 years of age and able to write their first and last names in order to become a member. A parent or guardian must be present and sign the application form.

Patrons must have a library card to check out books, CDs and tapes or to use the computers. Unpaid fines of $10 or more or failure to return overdue books may result in suspension of privileges.

A parent or guardian must accompany children ages 9 or younger at all times. Please pick up unaccompanied older children prior to closing time.

SERVICES AND PROGRAMS

COMPUTERS - Ten public access computers are available for members at no charge provided a PINES card is presented. Patrons ages 18 and younger must have written parental consent to use the Internet, and children age 9 or younger must be supervised.

COPIES - There is a charge of 20 cents per page for copies.

GENEALOGY - A genealogy room is available with cemetery records, reference books on Georgia, etc.

READING LISTS - AR reading lists are available for Pike primary, elementary, and middle schools students. Tests can only be taken at school.

HOMESCHOOL CLASS - A homeschool class for K-3rd grade students is held on Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. from September through April, concurrent with the Pike school schedule. (Pre-registration is required as space is limited.)

STORY TIME – Story time for preschool children is available on Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. September through April. Schedules are available at the library.

VACATION READING PROGRAM - A Vacation Reading Program is offered for preschool children and students through age 16. Participants keep up with hours read and can attend various programs that encourage summer reading.

SENIOR TAX ASSISTANCE - Tax assistance by AARP volunteers is available for the elderly on Thursdays from late February to the week of April 15. Volunteers are here Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
