The Pike County Board of Commissioners will be holding a public workshop on Tuesday,
July 7, 2009 at 4:00 pm in the Commissioners meeting room, 79 Jackson Street, Zebulon GA. This workshop will discuss the proposed gas line to the Industrial Corridor on U.S. Highway 41.

Commissioner Willis receives CCAP Certification
Roosevelt Willis, District 1 Commissioner for Pike County has recently received his certification for completion of the Certified Commissioners Advanced Program (CCAP) from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, University of Georgia. Commissioner Willis is the first commissioner in Pike County history to complete this advanced training. In addition to the 48 hours of training required for completion of the Commissioners Training Program, Commissioner Willis has also completed an additional 48 hours of advanced training; participated in the required two-day Advanced Leadership Institute; and completed a summary project report. The award is an indication of the level of dedication Commissioner Willis puts into his position.

Sales of Beer and/or Wine on Election Day
Due to changes in the Beer and Wine Ordinance, effective November 1, 2008, stores with a current Pike County license to sell beer and/or wine may sell it on Election Day.
Sales of beer and/or wine are still not allowed on Christmas Day.
Fire Department's New Fire Engines
Pike County's Newest fire engine purchases have arrived, 4 American LaFrance Liberty engines. The total purchase was for a total of $1,031,136 from SPLOST. The fire department is very thankful to the community for making the purchase of these new engines possible.
Driveway Permit Process Changes
The process for purchasing a driveway permit in Pike County has changed. These permits now can be purchase at the Pike County Public Works Office, 152 Twin Oaks Rd.
Driveway permits are no longer available at the Pike County Planning and Development office.
